Our Ban Driven Grouse Shooting petition has passed the milestone of 85,000 signatures and is now standing at over 88,000 signatures. Fewer than 12,000 signatures, by 22 May, will trigger a parliamentary debate on the subject – that is a very feasible 256 signatures every day.
Thank you to all who have signed – here is the link https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/700036
Since the Westminster petitions process reopened after the general election, 3,523 petitions have been submitted of which 2,021 have been rejected as not meeting the criteria for such petitions and 1,502 petitions have been published. Of those 1,502 petitions, only 71 have so far passed the 10,000 signature threshold which generates a response from government.
Of those 1,502 published petitions (and of the current top 713 which have passed 10,000 signatures) the ‘Ban driven grouse shooting’ petition is still the 14th most signed. Here are the top 14 and four other environmental petitions further down the list;
Thanks to you, the ban driven grouse shooting petition is currently the highest-ranking environmental petition and is up there with issues such as taxation, immigration, social media and Brexit. Wild Justice aims to keep the petition racing along (with occasional pauses while we do other things) and reach 100,000 signatures by 22 May.
Here’s the signature map, by Westminster constituency, which shows where the signatures come from (as of yesterday evening):

When we passed 75,000 signatures there were 55 parliamentary constituencies with more than 200 signatures and we listed them all. Now that list would be 107 constituencies so we will simply list the 22 constituencies with over 300 signatures:
Derbyshire Dales (Lab) 537 signatures
High Peak (Lab) 456 signatures
Skipton and Ripon (Con) 426 signatures
Sheffield Hallam (Lab) 422 signatures

South Devon (LibDem) 402 signatures
Central Devon (Con) 395 signatures
Thirsk and Malton (Con) 370 signatures
Ceredigion Preseli (Plaid) 364 signatures

These constituencies cross most borders (though Northern Ireland constituencies are always low ranking in these Westminster petitions). They represent constituencies with and without driven grouse shooting inside their borders, of many political parties and rural and urban.
